16 Year Old California Girl Sentenced to Life in Prison Without Parole, for Killing her Pimp. SIGN HER PETITION!

Sara Kruzan was just 13 years old when she was raped by her then future pimp. She was put on the street as a prostitute working from 6pm to 5:30 am. This continued until one day, at 16 years old, she killed her pimp.

The judge tried her as an adult in California and sentenced her to life in prison without parole. I know killing is wrong. Should there be a punishment for the crime of murder, yes I believe so. But it is inexcusable to try her as an adult and then sentence her to life without parole. She was a child in desperate need of help. Now she will die in prison.

Creating more problems is the fact that predators from foreign countries, such as the USA, travel to Cambodia to have sex with children.

This documentary tells the story of thousands of children in Uganda. They flock to the cities to sleep at night to protect themsleves from being abducted by rebel soldiers. If the rebel soldiers capture them, they will either kill them or force them to become soldier slaves and kill others.

These children live in fear. They struggle to survive. They fight for their freedom.

PROJECT AK47: No More Child Soldiers

Child slavery in all forms is heinous and evil, but especially when it involves child soldiers. Guerilla armies and drug cartels will take children, train them to kill, and then send them to the battlefield.

Instead of a childhood full of love and learning, these children, boys and girls as young as 5, receive a childhood filled with the death and horrors of war.

CNN SPECIAL REPORT: Helping Haiti's Child Slaves by Dr. Sanjay Gupta

Dr. Sanjay Gupta did this special CNN report in December 2009. It sheds light on the problems of child domestic slavery in Haiti.

QUESTIONS TO PONDER:
How will the devastation of the earthquake affect child slavery in Haiti?
Will the system be rebuilt alongside the buildings, homes and governement?
Who will protect the thousands of displaced and orphaned children?
What can we do?

These are all questions I don't have answers to. I do know that awareness and fundraising is key, but it's equally critical for the Haitian government and people to build a system that will protect these children in correlation to building a new infrastructure.

This opportunity is the silver lining available to the Haitian people after such a tragic loss. There's no better time than now to make the changes necessary, and with the aid and watchful eye of dozens of other countries, hopefully this will take place. My heart and prayers go out to them.

Mimi Chakarova was born in Bulgaria and immigrated to Baltimore at age 13. Later, when she traveled back to Bulgaria, she learned that many of her friends, had been trafficked to other countries as teenagers to become sex slaves. Most of their parents did not know where their daughters went and what happened to them.

Ormond has been an activist engaged with fighting human trafficking since the mid-1990s, and has recently partnered with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.^[3] She is also an advocate for Transatlantic Partners Against Aids, which attempts to raise awareness about AIDS in Russia and Ukraine, and is founding co-chairman of FilmAid International.^[4]

On 2 December 2005, Ormond was appointed as a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador. Her focus has been on anti human-trafficking initiatives, raising awareness about this modern form of slavery and promoting efforts to combat it.^[5] In her capacity as ambassador, Ormond has appeared as council to the United States House of Representatives, Committee on International Relations,^[6] Subcommittee on Africa,^[7] Global Human Rights and International Operations, and has travelled the world as an ambassador.^[8]
